This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Hoshin Space uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. A consent banner is displayed to visitors upon their first visit to the Platform and can be revisited at any time via the "Manage Cookies" link in the site footer.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device, remember your preferences, and collect information about how you interact with the site. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixel tags, and web beacons.

Cookies can be:

  • First-party: Set directly by Hoshin Space (hoshinspace.com).
  • Third-party: Set by external services we use (e.g., Stripe, analytics providers).
  • Session cookies: Deleted automatically when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies: Remain on your device until they expire or you delete them.

2. Categories of Cookies We Use

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. They enable core features such as user authentication, session management, and security. You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies without disabling Platform functionality.

2.3 Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it. All data collected is pseudonymized or aggregated — we do not use analytics cookies to identify individual users or build behavioral profiles for advertising.

Hoshin Space does not use:

  • Social media tracking pixels (Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, etc.).
  • Fingerprinting technologies that identify your device without a cookie.
  • Any cookie or tracking mechanism designed to build a behavioral advertising profile.

3. Third-Party Cookies

Certain third-party services integrated into the Platform may set their own cookies. These are subject to those providers' independent privacy and cookie policies:

Hoshin Space does not embed third-party advertising networks, social media plugins, or retargeting pixels on any page of the Platform.

4. Legal Basis for Cookie Use (GDPR)

This section applies specifically to visitors from the European Union, European Economic Area, and United Kingdom. If you are not located in these regions, this section is provided for transparency only.

Under the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive, we rely on the following legal bases for cookie use:

  • Strictly Necessary Cookies: Legitimate interests and contractual necessity. These cookies are required to provide the service you have requested. No consent is required for these cookies under the ePrivacy Directive.
  • Functional Cookies: Consent. We obtain your explicit consent before placing functional cookies via the consent banner on your first visit.
  • Analytics Cookies: Consent. We obtain your explicit consent before placing analytics cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.

Your consent is recorded in the cookie_consent cookie listed in Section 2.2. You may withdraw or modify consent at any time using the "Manage Cookies" option in the site footer, which re-opens the consent banner.

5. Your Choices and Controls

5.1 Consent Banner

When you first visit hoshinspace.com, a consent banner is displayed that allows you to:

  • Accept All: Accept strictly necessary, functional, and analytics cookies.
  • Accept Necessary Only: Accept only strictly necessary cookies. Functional and analytics cookies will not be set.
  • Manage Preferences: Granularly toggle functional and analytics categories on or off.

5.2 Changing Your Preferences

You can update your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the "Manage Cookies" link in the footer of any page on hoshinspace.com. Changing your preferences will clear any previously set non-essential cookies.

5.3 Browser-Level Controls

All major browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies through browser settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in to the Platform:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.

5.4 Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because there is no universally accepted standard for how DNT signals should be interpreted, Hoshin Space does not currently alter its data collection practices in response to DNT signals. Your cookie preferences set via the consent banner are the most reliable way to control your data.

5.5 Opt-Out of Analytics

If you wish to opt out of analytics tracking specifically, you may do so via the consent banner or by emailing privacy@hoshinspace.com with the subject "Cookie Opt-Out."

6. CCPA and Cookie Data

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), information collected via cookies may constitute personal information. Hoshin Space does not sell cookie data or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may exercise their CCPA rights as described in the Hoshin Space Privacy Policy at hoshinspace.com/legal/privacy.

7. Data Retention

Cookie data is retained only as long as necessary for its stated purpose:

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies expire on the date listed in Section 2.
  • Server-side logs associated with cookie activity are retained for up to 12 months, then deleted or anonymized.
  • Consent records (what you consented to and when) are retained for 3 years for compliance audit purposes.

8. Updates to This Policy

Hoshin Space may update this Cookie Policy as we add new features, integrate new third-party services, or in response to changes in applicable law. The current version is always available at hoshinspace.com/legal/cookies. We will notify Service Providers of material changes via email or in-Platform notification. When we add new cookie categories requiring consent, the consent banner will re-appear.
